When do I need to make sure videos are captioned for deaf students?

Videos must be captioned when a deaf student requests it through an IEP (in K–12) or as a college accommodation. All media used in class, whether required or supplemental, must be accessible. Many schools also caption videos proactively to avoid delays, support universal design, and ensure clarity for faculty and staff.
