How many deaf people live in my area?
To find state-, county- or municipality-level data, there are two helpful tools:
- Cornell University’s Disability Statistics ACS Custom Tables Tool – allows users to explore ACS data. To view estimates at the county- or congressional district- level, select the Prevalence option under ACS (Census 5-year Estimates).
- Microdata Access Tool (MDAT) – allows users to explore ACS data at more granular geographic levels and customize searches using additional variables. Our free e-learning course, Finding Data about Deaf People, provides step-by-step instructions for using MDAT.
