Who is responsible for providing stethoscopes for deaf students?

Responsibility depends on the program’s policy. If the school provides stethoscopes to all students, it must also provide a deaf student with an adaptive stethoscope (e.g., amplified or digital). If students are required to purchase their own, the deaf student would do the same, but may qualify for support from vocational rehabilitation or a state technology program. Deaf students should consult with their audiologist to find a stethoscope compatible with their hearing aids or cochlear implants.
